These days only the rest areas on interstates allow overnight parking in the tractor trailer section. There were a rash of problems at the more remote areas with drivers being robbed and/or killed in the middle of the night. Rather than actually patrolling more roads, the decision in just about every state was to limit the number of places with overnight parking available.

Check out the truck stops in the area. I've been able to overnight in their truck parking areas on a few occasions.
